Alexey Kushnarenko invited elders from the Minsk region to the Belarusian NPP and the "Dazhynki-2026" festival

Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexei Kushnarenko met with members of the Council of Elders of the Minsk Region. Over a cup of tea, they discussed the issues currently concerning the region: the economy, the harvesting campaign, preparations for sowing, as well as promising projects and plans for the region.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the region carried out an honorary mission — Nikolai Burak, Vladimir Garkun, and Anatoly Rubanik were awarded Certificates of Honour fr om the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.

A separate topic was the economy of the Minsk Region following the results of the first half of the year. They also discussed the agricultural campaign: how the harvest is progressing, what needs to be done in preparation for the upcoming sowing campaign, and the new achievements of the central region.

It should be recalled that this year’s harvest campaign was launched in the Kletsk District: Alexei Kushnarenko, together with last year’s top performer Pavel Shutilo, opened the harvesting season in a field of the Kukchitsy agricultural enterprise. At that time, the governor noted that nearly 1,500 combine harvesters had been prepared for the harvest in the region and around 1,500 machine operators were involved in the campaign. The plan is to achieve no less than last year’s result and reach 3 million tonnes, including rapeseed and corn. By mid-August, the harvesting campaign had already reached significant figures: on August 13, Alexander Lukashenko met with the leading harvest workers of the Minsk Region, who had harvested 2 million tonnes of grain.

Another item on the programme was for the elders to learn about the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant. Alexei Kushnarenko noted the strategic importance of the project for the country. The governor said that during his time as Belarus’ Minister of Energy, he had overseen, among other things, matters related to nuclear power, and stressed that the decision to build the Belarusian NPP was strategic and was made by the head of state.

The Council of Elders plans to travel to the Belarusian NPP in Ostrovets, Grodno Region, wh ere meeting participants will be able to see one of the country’s largest energy facilities.

The meeting concluded with an invitation. Alexei Kushnarenko invited all members of the Council of Elders to attend the regional “Dazhynki-2026” harvest festival, which will take place on September 19 in Dzerzhinsk.

Incidentally, this was not the governor’s first meeting with the elders. Last year, participants in a similar gathering visited the Pukhovichi District, where they learned about the production facilities of Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation CJSC (BNBC).
