Kushnarenko laid flowers at the Monument to the Mother-Patriot in Zhodino

Today, June 22, a requiem rally dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People was held in Zhodino at the monument honouring Soviet patriotic mother Anastasia Fominichna Kupriyanova.

On June 22, 1941, the Great Patriotic War began. Eighty-five years later, city residents, representatives of labour collectives, public organisations, and honoured guests gathered at the Anastasia Kupriyanova monument to honour the memory of those who perished and pay tribute to the generation of victors.

During the rally, speakers spoke of the feat of the Belarusian people, who were the first to face the enemy’s attack. Participants remembered the millions of war victims, frontline heroes, and those who defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland at the cost of their own lives.

A monument that became a symbol of maternal heroism

Special words were devoted to the Kupriyanov family. Hero of the Soviet Union Pyotr Kupriyanov and his brothers are immortalised in bronze at the famous monument, while their mother, Anastasia Fominichna, became a symbol of the maternal courage, resilience, and selflessness of all women who never saw their sons return from the front.

Alexei Kushnarenko, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, took part in the rally.

After a minute of silence, participants laid flowers at the monument, paying tribute to the heroes who fell during the Great Patriotic War.
