Algeria is interested in adopting Belarus’ experience in strengthening and developing many areas. This was stated by Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the National People’s Assembly of the Parliament of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, at a meeting with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on May 26, BELTA reports.

First of all, Ibrahim Boughali conveyed to the Belarusian head of state warm greetings and words of deep respect from the President of Algeria, along with assurances of readiness to take joint action to develop cooperation. “Your visit last December (the President of Belarus paid an official visit to Algeria in December 2025. — BELTA note) generated considerable public interest and sent a message to the Algerian people about your commitment to strengthening and developing cooperation in various fields: the economy, trade, agriculture, science, and culture. We see significant opportunities to increase trade turnover, develop economic cooperation, and establish joint production facilities for the benefit of the peoples of our countries,” the Speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly stressed.

He noted that Algeria is currently focusing on a policy of economic diversification and reducing its dependence on hydrocarbons. The country seeks to develop areas such as agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. “We need Belarusian experience in strengthening these sectors and expanding work in these areas, and I am confident that there are prospects for joint work here,” Ibrahim Boughali said.
