Greetings on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia

Chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sent congratulations on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia:

“Dear friends!

On April 2, 1996, the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, based on the historically formed common destiny of Belarusians and Russians and guided by the will of our peoples for further rapprochement, signed the Treaty on the Establishment of the Community of Belarus and Russia.

Thirty years have passed since then. The Community, the Union, and the Union State are successive links in a chain of carefully considered steps along our path of integration.

The policy priorities of the Union State remain unchanged. They are peace and harmony, unity and progress, prosperity and social justice.

Our fraternal peoples cherish the traditions of trust carried through the centuries, are rightfully proud of their shared history, sacredly honour the memory of their ancestors, and carefully preserve spiritual and moral values. Significant joint achievements help millions of Belarusians and Russians live and work with dignity, raise children, and look confidently toward tomorrow.

Mutually beneficial partnership in various areas, growing trade volumes, and the implementation of bilateral programmes and projects open new opportunities for the sustainable improvement of our peoples’ well-being. We ensure the food security and technological sovereignty of the Union State. The two countries are creating a scientific, educational, information, and cultural space in which citizens of Belarus and Russia feel part of a single whole.

Minsk and Moscow jointly uphold their goals and ideals in the international arena, support one another in the fight against unlawful sanctions, strengthen their common defence potential, do everything possible to reduce military and political tensions in the world, and strive to restore global trust.

Dear friends, by following the path of close integration, we can respond to the challenges of our time, raise living standards and well-being, and jointly educate a worthy generation that will continue the relay of generations.

On this festive day, I sincerely wish you good health, happiness, and success in your constructive work.”
